Introduce you one of the common point between the two Panasonic scalable optical disc library system DA2 and DA3: RAID (Redundant Arrays of Independent Disks)
DA2 has RAID 0, RAID 5, RAID 6
DA3 has RAID 0 and RAID 6

RAID 0 is the earliest RAID mode, and the RAID 0 has no redundancy, and if a CD is damaged, all the data can't be used.

RAID 5 has data read speed similar to RAID 0, but only one odd parity information. The speed of writing data is slower than that of single disk. At the same time, because many data correspond to a parity information, the disk utilization ratio of RAID 5 is higher than that of RAID 1, and the storage cost is relatively low, which is currently a more widely used solution.

RAID 6 technology is a RAID approach designed to further strengthen data protection on the basis of RAID 5, which is actually an extension of the RAID 5 level. This means that every data block has two check protection barriers (one hierarchical check and the other one is overall check), so the data redundancy performance of RAID 6 is pretty good. However, due to the addition of a check, the efficiency of writing is worse than that of RAID 5, and the design of control system is more complex. The checkout area of second blocks also reduces effective storage space.
